Question:
What is the best method to purchase a new phono cartridge, as it is impossible to audition the sound of one. How do I know I'm getting a good value for the sound. Can you enumerate the properties one should search for? Thank you.
-Michael
Answer:
A: You should be able to audition cartridges at an audio dealer. This may at least allow you to compare two cartridges and judge their relative merits. If you want to do the audition at home, that may be more difficult, but some dealers may be able to assist.
We suggest a few added steps, though this process may be more involved than you would like.
