Oversampling in Audio: Filtering and Hi-Res Sound Accuracy
Question:
When it comes to oversampling, I seem to remember two key justifications given in The Complete Guide to High End Audio (previous edition): (1) it allows the brick-wall lopass filter to be moved far away from the audible range, and (2) some events in music require oversampling to be captured accurately.
What are some examples of (2)?
