I am thinking of replacing my old preamp that has an MC phono input with what I believe has a fixed impedance of 47K ohms with a separate phono stage with adjustable load impedances and a separate preamp. What does changing the load impedance actually do? My cartridge specs say a minimum of 80 ohms.
