Exclusive to our Substack subscribers, we host a weekly Q&A every Monday. Our team of veteran writers, reviewers, and editors hand select a few to answer every Friday. Perhaps you’re having trouble with a specific amplifier, or desire a deeper understanding of transmission line speakers, from the general to the specific, post your questions here and come back on Friday to see them answered!
When talking about room sizes often the terms are small, medium and large. Can you pout some parameters around these terms? Secondly, can the relative amplifier size needed to “fill” these spaces be address?
Could you please advise if there are sonic differences among streaming devices independent of the DAC, preamp, or integrated amp with which many such devices are bundled.
In the process of updating my system, I recently installed a DS Master 3 Cartridge and Equalizer, thanks to my frenemy JV (I love his reviews, my pocketbook hates him. LOL), I absolutely love it and desire for nothing better.
This is installed on a Luxman PD151 Mark II turntable. While I'm very pleased with the Luxman, some might consider this a mismatch. Two questions: 1) is this such a mismatch that I should consider a "better" turntable, and 2) would this 'table benefit significantly from better acoustical isolation by adding different feet or an isolation platform between my HRS rack and turntable? Thanks in advance for your response.
Following up on Tom Martin's recent review of BACHH. I'm wondering about the correction being made by BACCH and why the playback crosstalk overlap that is illustrated in Mr Martin's review does not occur in a live performance? Is it simply the size of the performance space that is the reason it does not occur ? If that's the case then are there locations within a performance space where it does occur? I think that I may be missing something in my understanding of why the correction (removal) needs to be made?
