I believe a robust power supply improves performance of DACs and amps, but will upgrading the power supply of a digital music streamer provide any improvement if I am utilizing the digital output of the streamer to an outboard DAC?
A letter appearing in the last issue of TAS complimented Jonathan Valin on his excellent explanation of the design philosophy underlying the MBL Extreme II - - a comment with which I wholeheartedly agree . I've owned the original Extremes for quite some time and was wondering about room treatment given the way in which the Xtremes and presumably all omni-directional speakers work . I have been using RPG diffusers at the first reflection point and at the rear corners . Does this make sense ? Does any room treatment for the omni-directional speakers make sense ?
Is there a "best" way to add subwoofers to a system? How can subs with their own power (e.g., REL and JL) be as good as passive subs powered by amps matching those powering the speakers (e.g., pass labs power the speakers and use matching pass labs amps to power the passive subs). Not worried about the brand issues - just the configuration issues.
